Lake Garda Destination Wedding.
Michelle and Steve’s wedding at magical Malcesine Castle.
Every time I get booked to capture somebody’s wedding day and provide them with the timeless memories in the form of my photographs, I always do a little happy dance.
For me It is always a great honour to be allowed into couples big day, however if the couple decides to take me abroad regardless the extra investment to cover my travel I feel the sense of enormous responsibility as the couple could choose literally anybody in the world but they chose me 🙂
When I met with Michelle and Steven was told of their plans to get married in Lake Garda in Italy (one of my favourite place in World) I was ecstatic!!
As I’d had the pleasure of shooting in Lake Garda many times before I was able to offer lots of advice and information which helped Michelle and Steven with their wedding day planning.
Michelle and Steven chose the historical picturesque town of Malcesine to get married and why wouldn’t they when they are permitted to have their ceremony in the majestic Malcesine Castle situated on the shoreline of the lake itself.
The wedding Day
I met Michelle with her bridal party getting their hair and make-up done at one of the local beauty salons. Although busy the atmosphere within the salon was super relaxed with loads of excitement and a lovely buzz in the air.
Once the bridal party were finished at the salon and all looking absolutely stunning we all headed back to the hotel Baia Verde https://www.hotelbaiaverde-malcesine.it/
Situated just above the Restaurant La Voglia https://www.lavogliamalcesine.it/ where the wedding reception took the place later on.
A quick change into the wedding gowns and off we went to the Malcesine castle.
Although there are many weddings happening throughout the summer when the bride walks to the castle via the narrow cobbled streets of Malcesine town everyone just stops and admires the look of the bride to be.
I have to admit I am a very emotional person but I think Steven beats me hand down. As soon as he spotted his beautiful wife to be walking down the aisle he could barely hold it together. The wedding ceremony was just beautiful.
There’s just something really special about getting married under the blue sky, no walls no ceilings and of course the most beautiful views over the lake Garda.
After all the formalities were over we had a bit of time for some pictures within the Malcesine Castle. From there we all headed down to the shores of the lake for some nibbles and drinkies just before the private boat ride to the wedding venue Restaurant La Voglia.
The boat ride was super refreshing, it was nice to get a bit of this famous Lake Garda’s breeze onto our faces.
Once we arrived to the La Volglia Restaurant the plan was very simple, eat, drink, laugh ,cry, celebrate and party all night.
The atmosphere was just fantastic with a Saxophonist playing alongside the music and everyone having a great time.
I have to admit I have never witnessed people drinking flaming sambuca before which I thought was just insane but hilarious and amazingly nobody got injured I was quite sad to see the party come to an end just past 1am. We could all literally have party all night long. Just before the taxis arrived something unexpected happened (luckily I haven’t packed all my equipment away) Steven with his “lads” decided to run fully dressed into the midnight darkness of Lake Garda. Cherry on the cake as they say and the most perfect way to end up this Amazing day.
