Laurey and Edward and their AMAZING Wedding Day at Stubton Hall
What can I say about Laurey and Edward’s big day at Stubton Hall? Well, firstly, this is a fine example of how planning an amazing day doesn’t need to take a long time! Laurey and Edward managed to put all the elements of their wedding together in just under 4 months. Their wedding day was full of genuine love and joy. From their morning preparation right up to their lively Ceilidh dance in the evening, Laurey and Edward were an absolute dream to work for. Glowing with love and happiness, they chose to focus on what was most important to them, celebrating their marriage with their friends and family without any major formalities. Their wedding was laid-back with so much love in the air, it was simply contagious. It’s always a sign of an amazing wedding when I drive home with a massive smile on my face, looking forward to going through all the images I have captured. Laurey and Edward were one of the loveliest and most genuine couples I’ve ever photographed, and I feel truly blessed that they chose me to be their wedding photographer at Stubton Hall.
Stubton Hall, a Wedding venue in Nottinghamshire
It was so nice to be back at one of my favourite wedding venues in Nottinghamshire – Stubton Hall. Every bride and groom getting married here is spoiled with endless beautiful backdrops for their wedding photographs.
Stubton Hall is one of the most beautiful country house wedding venues in rural Nottinghamshire. If you are planning to get married in a country house with stunning photos in mind, then Stubton Hall is the right place for you. Framed by endless greens, serene lakes and beautiful architecture, it is the ideal stage for the most memorable and magical day.
So why is Stubton Hall such an amazing place for every wedding photographer?
For me, Stubton Hall is like a playground and every wedding photographer would agree. The photo opportunities to capture brides and grooms in this gorgeous environment and its vast gardens are endless. In fact, it would be the perfect setting for a period drama with its wistful walkways, canopied arches and fountains.
The main entrance to Stubton Hall makes its own statement. Framed with Roman columns, it’s the epitome of romance and can be captured in so many different, creative ways. Some wedding photographers prefer to zoom in and frame their shots tightly, capturing their brides and grooms (or the wedding guests) in between the columns. Other photographers prefer to photograph wide-angle shots and from a distance to capture just how majestic the Stubton Hall entrance really is. This is also a great place for those ever-important formal wedding family photos.

Stubton Hall has a variety of different rooms suitable for all sorts of wedding ceremonies
The Music Room with its floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the parterre is perfect for weddings of up to 100 guests and can be used for all sorts of creative wedding photographs before, during and after the ceremony. The room is flooded with beautiful natural light, which is so important when capturing beautiful, natural-looking photos. After the ceremony, this room can be also cleared to provide a beautiful space for some bride and groom photos or even group shots of their wedding guest and family.
Apart from Stubton Hall’s music room, which normally accommodates up to 100 guests for the wedding ceremony, there is also the magnificent Orangery which can seat up to 200 people for those couples who plan their wedding on a larger scale.
On the other side, for the brides and grooms planning a smaller wedding ceremony, the chic Bow Room or sunny Conservatory are just perfect for those more intimate ceremonies. All in all, Stubton Hall has it covered regardless of the size of the wedding party. And the best thing is, Stubton Hall is an exclusive wedding venue, which means you don’t have to share the venue with anybody else!
Confetti, drinks reception, and family group photos at Stubton Hall
After the wedding ceremony, the drinks reception starts with a confetti tunnel which can be arranged either at the main entrance or walking out onto the parterre through a large floor-to-ceiling window.
During the drinks reception at Stubton Hall, the wedding guests can freely move around the gorgeous gardens, enjoying their drinks and canapes whilst the closest family and bridal party have their formal wedding pictures taken. My favourite spot for the formal (and informal) wedding photos is on the top of the stairs overlooking the main feature of the garden…an enormous rectangular water feature that creates a very interesting composition with some striking leading lines.

Bride and Groom’s portraits with endless options of picturesque backgrounds of Stubton Hall
In my creative wedding photography, I always thrive to capture different perspectives and views to show my lovely couples in the best possible light and in the most interesting surroundings. It might be not an obvious option for other wedding photographers, but I really love to take pictures at Stubton Hall from the other side of the water feature capturing the vast garden with the country house in the background.
I could literally spend the whole day taking photos all around Stubton Hall and never run out of new ideas and interesting compositions. Of course, the wedding pictures of the couple are a very important part of the wedding day however, in my eyes it is never the priority. I want my bride and grooms to fully enjoy their wedding day celebrations with their friends and family. And that’s why I like to pre-plan where I’ll be taking the couple for their portrait so I can do them as quickly as possible and not take the wedding couple from their guests for too long. Most of my wedding photos don’t take more than 10 – 15 minutes before the wedding breakfast. Weather permitting, I sometimes don’t even take any couples’ photographs during the drinks reception as I prefer them to spend as much time mingling with their wedding guests. Later in the afternoon, the light is much softer and gives me many more options to express my creativity. Quite often, to achieve the desired photo, I use my external flash system which will add some drama to the image.
Stubton Hall is an exclusive use country house wedding venue
Yes, you will get the whole place for yourself and you and all, or at least the majority of your guests, can stay in one of Stubton Hall’s 25 luxurious bedrooms.
Combining the traditional feel with a modern twist, this beautiful country house is a real treat to stay in and provides a true luxury. It’s really hard to find any other country house wedding venues quite like Stubton Hall and I cannot wait for the next time I get to capture a couple’s magical wedding day here.

A Bride’s Perspective
Latzo was so more than just a wedding photographer – he felt like one of the bridal party! He was the first person I saw as I walked through Stubton Hall’s majestic entrance on my big day and he greeted me with the warmest and most genuine hug and smile I’ve ever had from a ‘stranger’. It genuinely felt like I had known him for years, despite only speaking a few times prior to the wedding day.
From that moment on, I not only realised our wedding day was in the best hands, but I also felt at ease, relaxed and so comfortable with him around that I often forgot he was there. More importantly, I trusted him implicitly. It was because of this, Latzo was able to capture the moments in between the moments; the real, emotional, and most beautiful snapshots of love and friendship that we will treasure for ever.
Latzo mingled effortlessly with our wedding guests, who all commented on how wonderful he was, not just as a photographer, but as a person. His energy, creativity and enthusiasm for his work, and for us, made us feel so special.
Not only are his day shots bright, crisp and beautifully captured, it’s his night photography and his ability to turn the darkness into an epic canvas that really caught our attention. Not one minute of the wedding day was wasted as Latzo can capture the sublime regardless of what the sky is doing – which was also evident when the heavens opened! In fact, it was one of my favourite moments of our wedding day and a beautiful photo!
An artist and perfectionist, Latzo did everything in his power to capture the perfect shot: lying down underneath trees, walking backwards into bushes and setting up lights to create those ‘epic’ night-time shots I had told him I loved.
Stubton Hall is truly magnificent and luckily for us, every moment that we captured in our hearts, has been captured by Latzo so we can relive it again and again. He also captured the moments we didn’t notice which added a new dimension to what truly was the perfect day.
People have asked me since how the wedding was, and my answer is “pure magic from start to finish”. Latzo played a pivotal role in creating and capturing that magic, going above and beyond what I had ever dreamed a wedding photographer would and could be.
We will be forever grateful we found him and forever able to relive these moments for the rest of our days – now how magical is that?
