Menorca Weddings – The best of wedding photography
If you are planning your Menorca wedding have a read about Louise and Emma’s wedding. I always consider myself to have one of the best jobs in the world, and it’s an added bonus that it takes me to many wonderful places in the world too. When Emma and Louis asked me to be their wedding photographer for their destination wedding in Menorca, it was an offer I couldn’t refuse – especially since I had come highly recommended from Emma’s brother who had chosen me for their wedding photography in England earlier that year. I was already looking forward to spending more time with their fantastic family.
Alcaufar Vell – One of the most beautiful wedding venues in Menorca
This destination wedding took place at the Rural Hotel & Restaurant Alcaufar Vell – an olive-tree enclosed Mediterranean haven in the beautiful Menorcan countryside, only a winding road away from the island’s crystal clear beaches. Emma’s dad lives in Menorca and knew the area well enough to help the couple uncover this absolute gem; as a wedding photographer, half my work is already done when couples choose a wedding venue as full of charm and character as this one!
Bridal Bridal preparations at Alcaufar Vell in Menorcan style.
Emma’s bridal preparations were at a rustic setting at one of the most beautiful wedding venues in Menorca – Alcaufar vell. Typical Menorcan decor, big floor to ceiling big windows with a fresh breeze coming from the sea it was all adding to that special feeling of having the destination wedding in Menorca. The atmosphere in the bridal suite couldn’t be more relaxed. I have started photographing all those natural moments amongst the bride to be, both mums and the bridesmaids. The reason why the bride and groom chose this amazing Menorca wedding venue was its a timeless character which was adding so much value to the whole wedding day.
Groom’s preparation in a private villa in S’Algarve
Once I’ve capture enough photos of the bridal party I was on the way to photograph Louis’s lively preparation taking place in S’Algar. The private villa at S’Algarve was just perfect setting for all the “boys”. I heard the night before the wedding was pretty will as expected. The groom’s preparation was much calmer. Louis had plenty of time to get himself ready to see his wife be.
The town of S’Algar is in the south-east corner of Menorca, next to Punta Prima. S’Algar was one of the first purpose-built resorts on the Balearic Island, it’s managed to retain its romantic, original, fishing village roots. The town of S’Algar is nestled in the south-east corner of Menorca, next to Punta Prima on the map. It was one of the first purpose-built resorts on the Balearic Island, but, despite being an old-timer, it’s managed to retain its sleepy, fishing village roots. There’s little here aside from a handful of low-rise hotels and villas, which sidle up to a palm-lined waterfront. The palm-lined waterfront is simply beautiful, especially during the sunsets.
The Wedding ceremony under the Menorcan Olive Trees – epic
When photograph destination weddings, detailed planning is essential. To make sure that not a single moment at my Menorcan wedding is missed I’ve brought with me a second photographer. Blessed with the Menorcan heat and September sunshine beating down on us, I took such joy from capturing the couple and their wedding guests against the glorious golden backdrop of the Alcaufar Vell, an 18th-century farmhouse. The wedding ceremony at Alcaufar Vell took place in their very unique ‘Jardin del ullastres’ olive garden. What bride or groom wouldn’t want to exchange their wedding rings in the shade provided by 100-year-old wild olive trees.
Preparation for the wedding evening in Menorcan town of S’Algarve.
After toasting the new Mr. and Mrs. Borman with ice-cold beer and Sangria (Menorcan style!) it was time for the newlyweds and their wedding guests to head down to their evening venue. The Dinky Bar is a very laid back Menorcan bar located right on the seafront of S’Algarve. The wedding congregation started to arrive adoring the setting sun above the Mediterranean sea.
Beautiful sunset wedding Photography in Menorca
As a wedding photographer, I always try to make the most of that beautiful dramatic light before and after the sunset. Whilst the rest of the guest were getting ready for the evening celebration, myself, bride and groom sneaked away on the top of the nearby cliff for some couples portraits. On the wedding day, it’s always nice to find some time where the wedded couple can enjoy themselves away from all the buzz. Louis and Emma have really enjoyed their time on their own, absorbing all the moments of their big day, whilst I was running around trying to capture some epic photos.
Evening parties at Menorca’s weddings are pretty epic too !!
I have discovered that at the destination weddings, somewhat the atmosphere is more laid back and relaxed. People laugh more, celebrate lauder and party harder. Athe this awesome wedding in Menorca, we have partied until midnight and we continued to capture every last moment of this destination wedding’s Menorcan magic. In fact, Lori and I were both so spellbound by the magic of this beautiful mediteranian island, that we decided to stay another couple of days to do some exploring; as it stands, I’m pretty sure that’s where I would like to spend my retirement years (ice-cold beer in hand!).
