Carriage Hall Wedding decorated by 1000 origami.
One of my first weddings this year was at the fantastic wedding venue in Nottinghamshire – Carriage hall. I met Fiona and Declan aka the bride and groom 🙂 only a couple of weeks before their wedding day to see how they are getting on and to plan their day. Once they mentioned their wedding was going to be decorated by over 1000 handmade origami cranes I just couldn’t wait to see what its going to look like in real life on their wedding day at Carriage Hall. Carriage Hall has been lovingly refurbished from former Plumtree railway station goods shed and it is now definitely one of my favourite wedding venues in Nottinghamshire.
It has plenty of natural light flooding from both sides and behind which is every wedding photographers dream. But my favourite thing about this wedding venue must be its majestic full width balcony which offers various options to capture those special moments in a number of ways from different perspective. What can I say, I was almost like a kid in a toy shop 🙂
The balcony was also the place which Fiona and Declan decided to completely cover with their colourful origami cranes. Somehow it brought the whole venue to life. Fiona and Declan wanted me to capture their day exactly as it was, no staging, no posing, no pretending just the true story of their day. We spent only 10 minutes doing formal group shots so everyone could enjoy a drink and crack on with the celebrations.
Just before the wedding breakfast we’ve managed to slip away to capture some portraits shots. Fiona and Declan made my job amazingly easy as they instantly lost them selves in their private more intimate celebrations forgetting I was there, providing an abundance of beautiful natural moments for me to capture.
Just after the sunset we managed to sneak out for 5 minutes and capture some amazing – more dramatic portraits with a beautiful after sunset sky in the background.
Once we got back everything was ready for a traditional cutting of the cake followed by very energetic 1st dance. The rest of the evening entertainment was left in capable hands of the band from Strictly come dancing – “Fillet-o-Soul” which was a surprise gift from Fiona’s dad.
I have to say I was little bit sad to leave their amazing day but happy on the other side as I had tons of great images and I’ll be able to relive their day again during the editing.
