I’m so excited to share some of my best Lake District wedding photography at Lake Windemere. Aaron and Minelli planned their dream destination wedding abroad in beautiful Tuscany, originally in September 2020. Their fabulous wedding was unfortunately postponed due to a global pandemic. The postponed wedding day was rescheduled to this September, but under the pressure of uncertainty around Covid-19 madness, they had to make a very difficult decision.

From a Big Destination Wedding to a Small Intimate Wedding in the Lake District

As their Wedding guests were coming from all over the world, Minelli and Aaron just couldn’t see their wedding happening again. At this point, they just couldn’t see themselves postponing their wedding again. So instead they decided to bring their wedding forward. They always liked the idea of a destination wedding but this wasn’t an option. A last-minute search for their new wedding venue brought them to the beautiful lake Windemere in Lake District. Although they have never been to the Lake District’s Lake Windermere before based on what they have seen online they decided to go ahead and book it for their wedding day.

With the change of their wedding plans, they also had to compromise on the number of guests, so they went from a 150 guests Mediterranean wedding in the middle of the Italian vineyards to an intimate wedding with only their parents and a couple of best friends.

The only problem with planning the wedding in Lake District is the unpredictable English weather. The weather Gods were on our side and we were blessed with the most amazing sunny day which gave us all that warm Mediterranean-like atmosphere.

Lake Windermere – as close as you can get to a Mediterranean-like Wedding

Lake Windemere must be one of the most beautiful places in England to get married. There are many hotels around the lake that offer wedding packages. I believe The Langdale Chase Hotel is one of the most beautiful places to have wedding celebrations.

Wedding Morning and Brides Preparation

Langdale Chase Hotel has 29 rooms beautiful rooms which are all individually decorated. Minelli picked a Feature room which is perhaps the most amazing of all of them. Plenty of room for the bride and her bridesmaids with a full-body freestanding mirror and a bay window panoramic view seating area is just the perfect place to spend that special moment before walking down the aisle.

Dog-Friendly wedding venue in Lake District

Langdale Chase hotel is one of only a few places where you can take your dog with you. There’s a selection of bedrooms with special dog bed’s so the brides and grooms can keep their four-legged friends close.

For Minelli and Aaron was very important that their cockapoo Bayley can be part of their intimate wedding day in Lake District. Perhaps that’s why they haven’t hesitated to book Langdale Chase as their perfect place to get married.

The Lake Windemere and the most amazing wedding photography opportunities

To photograph a wedding on Lake Windermere in Lake District is a dream of every wedding photographer. Every wedding photographer is trying to create a few of those jaw-dropping wedding photos by capturing the special moments in the most beautiful backgrounds whilst working with available light. If the natural light is not the best or is not working to support a wedding photographer’s creative vision, the use of a portable flash system that can be set up in seconds anywhere is normally the way to go. By using the flash in my wedding photography I can create all those striking, contrasty dramatic portraits which will give that wow factor to some of my signature wedding photos.

How did I photograph this gorgeous intimate wedding at Lake District

Of course, my first intention was to capture Minelli and Aaron in the most natural way in the surroundings of Langdale Chase Hotel in the background. Walking on the shore of Windermere Lake was a great opportunity to snap some pictures involving the beautiful Lake Windermere set in the majestic landscapes of the Lake District Mountains in the background.

The final point was the private Jetty in front of the Langdale Chase Boathouse which was just the perfect place to end the bride and groom’s walk and spend a couple of minutes embracing the views of the lake.

Langdale Chase Hotel, history and location

Langdale Chase Hotel was built in 1894 and was used as a private residence for a widow Mr. Howarth and her daughter Lily. The Langdale Chase residence was used as a hotel for the very first time in 1937.

Langdale chase hotel is situated in the town of Ambleside which sits in the Lake District National Park, Cumbria, and is located towards the top end of the largest, most beautiful lake in England, lake Windermere. Most of the visitors get her to spend some time at the lake sailing, admiring the views, and generally making the most of this blissful outdoor location.
