Rushton hall wedding photos

Northamptonshire Country house wedding venue

Rushton Hall wedding photography is really on another level. Who wouldn’t like to get married at one of the most prestigious stately home wedding venues in England? Wedding couples who are planning to get married are often prepared to travel to Rushton Hall from all over the country. I really loved the wedding decor of Rushton Hall Orangery at Sam and Richards’s Wedding. This wedding was simply a showstopper. As a wedding photographer, I visit many wedding venues and see loads of different wedding decoration styles, but this one is simply of its kind. I don’t think I’ve seen a bigger transformation at Rushton Hall’s orangery. What do you think? Is it Amazing or is it too much? And that’s the best thing about getting married at Rushton Hall. The rooms are simply stunning as they are, so if you don’t want to invest too much into wedding decor your wedding photographs at Rushton hall will look still amazing. Alternatively, you can go full-on and transform this already beautiful wedding venue into anything you want.

Rushton Hall wedding photography, history and location

Rushton Hall is conveniently situated, right in the middle of the country, rural Northamptonshire in Kettering. Rushton Hall is a magnificent Grade 1 listed country house hotel and spa surrounded by over 25 acres of stunning landscapes. Although Rushton Hall’s history is going back as far as the 16th century it didn’t lose any of its characters. With it’s well-deserved 4-star hotel and 3-rosette accolade, Rushton Hall is a proud holder of the title “The finest luxury hotel in Northamptonshire”.

Rushton Hall Weddings are a truly unforgettable experience for every couple planning to get married in a big style. If you are dreaming about a wedding in the country house or a stately home look no further. Rushton Hall is one of the most luxurious country houses in England,  offering a variety of wedding packages.

I’m not surprised Rushton Hall is one of the most sought-after wedding venues in Northamptonshire. As a frequent Rushton Hall wedding photographer, I see why brides and grooms choose to get married in one of the most luxurious country houses in England. I have traveled all around England and taken pictures at hundreds of various wedding venues. There is, however only a few country houses in England as impressive as Rushton Hall.

I have to say when I visited Rushton Hall for the first time as a wedding photographer, I got really overwhelmed. I could literally stay and photograph this beautiful country house for days.

Morning of the Wedding day and Bridal Preparation

Even if the wedding couples won’t choose the exclusive use of Rushton Hall, they like to take advantage of staying over a night before and obviously on the wedding night too. There are so many different choices with 51 individual bedrooms offering plenty of room for not only bride and grooms but for their wedding guests too. There are a few very spacious room which is particularly suitable for the bride’s preparation offering enough space even for the larger bridal parties. Due to a very unique floorplan, there is no problem at all if the groom wants to get ready at Rushton Hall too. Traditionally Groom can’t see the bride from the night before the wedding day. With a bit of planning, Rushton Hall can accommodate both brides and grooms withing the hotel and make sure they won’t see each other before the wedding ceremony.

My favourite spots for wedding photography at Rushton Hall

The Orangery

Every wedding photographer works with light. There are loads of beautiful wedding venues out there but once inside they lack the light. That is not certainly the case at Rushton Hall’s beautiful airy orangery. The Orangery was built to match the beauty of Rushton Hall. Majestic marble accents, beautiful stone floors and elegant crystal chandeliers are only some of the reasons why Northamptonshire wedding couples book this beautiful place. The versatility of this Orangery at Rushton Hall is outstanding. There’s a place for everyone attending your wedding in this Northamptonshire jewel. Whether it’s walking through the beautiful gardens or enjoying the cracking of the fire in Marble Fireplaces, or simply be somewhere in between, enjoying the views through the big orangery windows. I like capturing those all-important group shot just outside the orangery, with a magnificent photographic background of Massive columns and floor to ceiling windows. The orangery also gives me a lot of creative opportunities after dark when I can capture my freshly wedded couples in a more dramatic way.

The Great Hall of Rushton Hall wedding photography

For those couples who’d like to celebrate their marriage in a more traditional way and to be surrounded by the rich Rushton Hall history, the Great Hall is just the perfect spot. Massive bay windows, original paintings on the wall, beautifully preserved oak cladding and one of the largest fireplaces I’ve seen. The Great Hall of Rushton Hall is simply stunning. To photograph this room during the wedding speeches is a true experience. The quality of light which is needed to produce great photos is just perfect. Each and every of the wedding photographs has a unique picturesque background. There is something beautiful everywhere.

Fabulous Grounds at Rushton Hall

After the wedding ceremony finish, the drink reception takes place in the lobby within the Orangery area or if the weather is kind it’s quite often outside. That’s where the wedding guests can take full advantage of Rushton Hall’s beautiful gardens. After those family group photographs, I like to make the wedding couple away from their wedding guests for a bit of time on their own. It’s normally a very casually informal walk where I take some documentary-style photos capturing those precious moments as they happened. My favourite places to stop for a bit are the corners of the Ruston Hall with the big stone stairs, giving a really nice background for my pictures with the whole Rushton hall in the background. The car park side is definitely my favourite too for taking those symmetrical wide-angle pictures. That’s the view which the wedding guests get after they arrive.

The Rushton Hall lake

The beautiful lake just down the hill from the country house is just the cherry on the cake. I like to leave the bride and groom just by the side and I run on the other side of the lake to snap some epic landscape photos with the married couple right in the middle of the shot. Those images are always my couples favourite ones as they capture them, the lake and Rushton Hall in the same image. Also, the couple gets a proper intimate moment just for themselves as they can hardly see me on the other side of the lake.

Party like a rockstars at Rushton Hall

Regardless of whether you are planning a big or small intimate wedding at Rushton Hall, you can really party like a rockstar at Rushton Hall’s generous spaces. The Orangery at Rushton Hall comes really to life in the night and provide lots of space even for the most demanding wedding party animals. With various ways of partitioning the space, you can create dedicated spaces for all of your wedding guests.

Small intimate, micro weddings at Rushton Hall

You can choose from a various smaller rooms to have your ceremony and after you’ll get married you can enjoy your wedding breakfast or an afternoon tea at The Great Hall. You can spend as much time as you wish getting lost withing the beautiful grounds of Rushton Hall.

The Tythe Barn Launton wedding photography paradise

Tythe Barns Wedding photography bride and groom

The Tythe Barn Launton is an incredible place to work at for any creative wedding photographer

What do I think and how do I approach The Tythe Barn Launton wedding photography? Well if the wedding photographer was a child The Tythe Barn would be a Disneyland.

If you are planning to get married and considering getting hitched at one of Oxfordshire barn wedding venues, look no further.  The Tythe Barn Launton is definitely one of the most beautiful barn wedding venues I have the pleasure to photograph.

    About Tythe Barn Launton

As a wedding photographer, before the wedding day, I like to do my research and find out more about the wedding venue I’ll be photographing. I feel really privileged that my wedding photography business takes to one of the most incredible places all around the UK and beyond. The Tythe Barn in Launton has become straight one of my favourite places to photograph weddings. With its rural location, conveniently situated just outside of Bicester in the Oxfordshire countryside it is a perfect spot for both indoor and outdoor wedding celebrations.

I was really surprised the history of the Tythe Barn Launton goes as far as the 11th century. The stone barn with its signature thatched roof is a real showstopper. This super cool wedding venue is a family-run business providing exceptional services since 1998. The owners of the Tythe Barn Launton apart from running one of the best wedding venues in Oxfordshire also making sure they are giving back to their community. They are constantly thinking about new ways to run their wedding venue in a greener, more environmentally friendly way reducing the carbon footprint. And this selfless care really shows as soon as you enter this super cool place.

Due to the really high popularity of Tythe Barn Launton it’s not unusual they do weddings most back to back especially during the main wedding season. Somehow this doesn’t affect the quality of the service at all and each of the weddings is treated with the same exceptional care and enthusiasm.

    Tythe Barns outdoor front yard

My favourite wedding photography spot at Tythe Barn

From a wedding photographer’s point of view is a place of unlimited possibilities. “The Nook” the bridal suite feels almost like it’s been build with a wedding photographer in mind. Whilst brides with their bridesmaids getting ready we are being spoiled by all the various choices for creating those get ready photos.

The Tythe Barn – What an incredible place to photograph the wedding ceremony. Spacious Barn with plenty of space to seat even some of the bigger weddings. The directional light coming through the big window helps to create some striking images.

The Tythe Barn backyard is equally beautiful, conveniently locked between the main barn and the Cowshed, keeping all the wedding guests within the same space. Simply a perfect spot for capturing all those documentary natural moments, whether it’s during the drink reception or later on in the evening. This is the perfect place to have all those family group photos takes.

bride and groom walking out of Tythe Barns Wedding

Creative Photography at Tythe Barn at dusk after sunset

And this is the time when Tythe Barn turns into every creative photographer’s playground. My photography style is to document all those precious moments as they unveil, telling the story of the wedding day in the most natural, and my own creative way. This photography cover at least 90% of the day. The remaining 10% covers all the family group photos and my signature after the dark bride and groom portraits. The biggest challenge at Tythe Barn Layton is that there is way too many choices. I could literally spend hours and hours photographing all the great spots which are on offer within and around the Tythe Barn. My favourite creative photo spots are the main Tythe Barn ( It looks particularly gorgeous after dark). The courtyard with the pergola tunnel covered by climbing plants and fairy lights. The silver birch alley in front of the Tythe Barn is simply beautiful during the day and night. The front of the barn itself makes always a stunning photo too.

Would this be the style of Tythe barn Launton wedding photography you would love to explore further? You can  get in touch to find out more here.

Why do couples choose get married at Tythe Barn Launton

♡ Beautiful Rustic Barn wedding venue with a super cozy feel

♡ Luxurious Bridal suite only a few steps away from the Tythe Barn

♡ Super cool wedding suite for that special first night

    ♡ A 12th-century church within the estate

♡ Award-winning wedding caterers with an option to create your own bespoke wedding breakfast menu – you are seriously up for a delicious dining experience.

♡ High level of customization to decorate the barn to your requirements

♡ Perfect blend of rustic and modern with a super laid-back feel

Why have Lauren and Conor chosen The Tythe Barn to be your wedding venue?

“We always knew we wanted a barn wedding but felt that some barns were a bit too rustic. When we first walked into Tythe Barn we knew straight away it was the one because it had the barn feel but was still warm and cozy.”

first dance at Tythe Barns Wedding photography

Tythe Barns autumn bride and groom hugging

What inspired Lauren and Conor’s décor at their wedding at Tythe Barn?

Autumn and winter are our favourite time of the year and I love the rustic theme so that’s why I opted for red bridesmaid dresses and used pinecones for place names. I wanted a mix of autumnal and wintery colours so I chose lots of foliage to decorate the tables with. Traditional is not my style and being petite I decided to have a shorter dress for myself and my bridesmaids to give it more of a retro feel.
What was the best part of your wedding?
The photographer! And holding hands at the altar. We were both so nervous it was just nice to squeeze each other’s hand in reassurance.
What’s one thing you wish you would have known earlier in regards to planning?
We had a 2-year engagement so we had plenty of time to plan the wedding so we didn’t have any challenges when it came to the planning. The venue and suppliers were all so helpful and experienced so they were really good at guiding us on how things would run on the day.
Could you give a few pieces of advice for all the couples who are planning their wedding?
Remember the wedding day is about you! Everyone will want to have their say but always remember it’s about you getting married to the love of your life. Take a moment on the day to sit back and look around at all your loved ones and admire all the hard work you’ve done!
What was the most important factor in choosing your wedding photographer and why have you chosen Latzo?
Latzo was recommended to us by Conor’s mum as he photographed a friend’s daughter’s wedding. I was sure that I didn’t want the traditional posed style of photography and I really liked Latzo’s documentary style, in particular, the creative photos I’ve seen at Barton Hall!
Big shout out to a very hard working and always smiling “The Tythe Barn team” as well as all the amazing wedding suppliers who worked at Lauren and Conor’s wedding.

Bridge House Barn Wedding Photography | Tipi Wedding

Bridge House Barn tipi Wedding photography

Bridge House Barn Wedding Photography in Leicestershire

Tipi weddings are becoming a big trend within the UK wedding industry especially for couples who want to escape from formalities and are planning their wedding in a very laid back relaxed natural way,

Sam and Jake’s wedding was exactly like this.

Their Bridge House Barn Wedding venue is simply amazing, down-to-earth, laid-back day full of fun and laughter!  Sam and Jake didn’t want to go with a formal conventional day with a standard three-course wedding breakfast and cutting the wedding cake. Instead of that, they had afternoon tea, pizzas, pancakes, limoncello shots (Jake comes from an Italian family), roasted marshmallows, and loads of lovely with their wedding guests. I really loved how they decorated Bridge house barn and replaced their standard table plan with a shot of limoncello on the entry for every one of their guests with a name and table number tag sitting on the top. What a great start to the wedding reception, especially if it’s a laid-back wedding in a Tipi at Bridge house barn. The whole day had a very relaxed feel almost like a big family party with people scattered all around the lovely surroundings of Bridge House Barn’s Tipi’s, celebrating Sam and Jake’s big day. My documentary wedding photography style allows me to get all those precious natural moments in a very uninvaded relaxed way.

How do I approach wedding photography at Bridge House Barn?

As you may know, as a wedding photographer I am fond of simplicity and love to put capture my couples within a large landscape. Bridge House Barn is surrounded by loads of lovely fields that are full of potential for creating some striking wedding photos. Early morning, on the way to meet the bride with her bridesmaids, I have noticed a freshly harvested wheat field with some lovely hay bails still left over which gave me an idea for some after sunset couples portraits photographs. Although we missed the sunset, there was still plenty of lovely colours in the sky to create some lovely images.  Sam and Jake really appreciated a bit of time on their own away from their wedding guests, absorbing all the precious moments of their amazing wedding day.

Red heart confetti during the First dance in tipi at Bridge House Barn Wedding in Leicestershire

Evening Tipi wedding reception, pizzas, pancakes, marshmallows, and lots of action on the dancefloor

Once we returned back to Bridge House Barn, they joined their wedding guests who were all gathered outside enjoying delicious al-fresco handmade pizzas and pancakes. It was such an amazing evening where everybody found their perfect place. It was like a magic triangle; pizza oven – pancake trailer – and Tipi with a cosy fire pit inside. All of this, sitting right next to the canal lit by lovely festoon lights … simply perfect wedding setup! After a while guests started to trickle away finding their cozy place inside the Bridge House Barn tipi’s, gathering around the fire and roasting marshmallows. It was the time for Sam and Jake’s first dance as a husband and wife. I can honestly say that they got their party started in a big style with an elegant first dance initially turning into a crazy party afterward. Needless to say Sam and Jake with wedding guests really know how to party !!! And that’s the way I like it, my wedding photography doesn’t only captures all the romantic moments during the wedding day, through my images I am telling the story of the entire day. From the bride and bridesmaids’ preparations all the way to the crazy boogie on the dancefloor.

The story of Sam and Jake at one of loveliest, Leicestershire Tipi Wedding venues

Tell us how you first met?

Jake and I went to College together and Jake was one of the older boys. Although we knew of each other at college we’d never really spoken. Years later Jake messaged me, on Facebook of all things! Normally I’d have ignored that style of the message but because i recognised him i replied and asked him how many girls he’d sent his message to 😉. A drunken first date drinking Drumstick Lolly Cocktails and 6 years later the rest is history as they say.

Tell us about your engagement, how did Jake proposed?

I had a feeling Jake was going to propose to me in the year that he did, however, I had no idea when he was going to do it or when he had purchased the ring!
We were on a trip to Berlin with our friends and right from the off Jake was being weird, I actually thought he was being a little rude to our friends! (I later learned this was the stress of getting the ring through airport security without me finding out!.)
On arrival to our hotel room and away from our friends I asked Jake what was up which resulted in an argument, in which he then had to propose then and there on the spot as I wouldn’t let it drop haha. It definitely took me by surprise and Jake was very sweaty and nervous! We laughed in shock in our hotel room for around 30 minutes and then joined our friends for a celebratory Champagne dinner. Our friends had known the whole time, so just me that was out of the loop.

If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does.

We always joke that Jake is ‘classic’ and I’m ‘cool.’ We decided to reflect this in our wedding by having surprise banners made with 5 things we loved about each other. We didn’t see the banners until we sat down for our afternoon tea, which was a great surprise moment. Of course, we referenced the classic and cool on the banners 🙂.

Why have you chosen Bridge House Barn to be your wedding venue?

We had chosen Bridge House before we were even engaged. The location was very close to our first house and we often drove past and could see the tipis and wedding parties going on and knew that we loved it. We didn’t even consider other venues once we were engaged.

What inspired your wedding décor or theme of your wedding?

Our theme was simply ‘things we love.’ So Pizza, cocktails, afternoon tea, and music!

What was the best part of your wedding day?

      Marrying my husband

What’s one thing you wish you would have known earlier in regards to your wedding planning at Bridge House Tipi Wedding venue?

As an Event Manager, most people assume I would have loved planning our wedding but in fact for me the opposite was true. I just wanted to get to the day and get the ‘to-do list’ out of the way. I work best under pressure so everything was organized and booked last minute even though e knew right from the start what we wanted. Jake was much more organised and planned than me! (including the dress which my best friend had to force me to look for!) So I’m probably not the best person to ask for advice from.
A tip to marquee/ Tipi weddings though just bear in mind that you are booking an empty shell and this type of wedding will involve sourcing many different suppliers for all your needs (evening including linen and furniture in some cases.)

Could you give 1 or 2 most important pieces of advice for all the brides and grooms who are planning their wedding at Bridge House Barn?

If you are struggling with your guest list there is a one really simple way to decide. Ask yourselves ‘is this person really happy for us as a couple’ if the answer is no, it’s simple they don’t make the invite list!

Don’t feel the need to follow traditions if they don’t reflect you as a couple. We didn’t want to cut the cake so we didn’t (we had macaroon tower instead, so no cutting required!) I didn’t want a floral bouquet so there was no throwing of the bouquet (If I had thrown my bouquet I would have knocked somebody out haha), we didn’t want wine on the tables as we don’t drink wine so we had teapot cocktails instead. Every detail in our day reflected us.

Guests remember the food!! The one thing that gets mentioned time and time again about our wedding is how much the guests enjoyed the food, so make sure you attend tastings and that your food is good. But only choose a menu of food you like, not what your guests like!

What was the most important factor in choosing your wedding photographer and why have you chosen Latzo to capture your wedding day at Bridge House Barn?

Latzo came highly recommended by another photographer and I instantly recognised that his work was the style of photos we were looking for. Contemporary, quirky, covert, and atmospheric. One of the specific reasons we chose Latzo is that he has some great mean and moody Black and White shots in his portfolio, and as we fully expected it to rain (outdoor wedding in the UK summertime!) we wanted to know we’d still love our pictures even in the rain. Instagram was a big deciding factor for us as we could see a wide variety of Latzo’s work. Latzo was completely unobtrusive yet really friendly on the day. Our guests loved him and still sometimes mention him and to be honest we viewed him as one of our guests by the end of the day.

Chiswick House Wedding photography in London

London Wedding Chiswick house bride and groom

Chiswick House and Gardens Wedding Photography

Chiswick House and gardens wedding photography must be one of the most unique wedding venues in London I have Photographed.

Lord Burlington’s 18th-century villa, inspired by his grand tours of Italy and artists such as Andrea Palladio and Inigo Jones is simply stunning. This spectacular place which can be hired as a wedding venue takes every bride and groom on a very extraordinary journey. Why would you travel all the way to Italy if you can get married in the heart of London and in This Luxury Villa surrounded by 65 acres of Roman gardens?

I have photographed many weddings all around the UK but I have to honestly say Chiswick House as a wedding venue offers one of the most unique experiences.

Elegant London Wedding photography at Chiswick House

I am very fortunate to photograph weddings all over the UK, and often even beyond. On this occasion, I was delighted to work in one of the most dynamic cities in the world, LONDON.

Mariam chose the prestigious Landmark Hotel in Central London as the perfect location for her bridal preparations. As soon as I entered the hotel I was blown away by their majestic Winter Garden Restaurant. When I saw the fantastic view from Mariam’s bridal suite I immediately had a clear vision of the bride’s portrait image I wanted to capture. Although it wasn’t as easy as I had imagined, I was informed that access was not allowed to the balcony but not wanting to be defeated I charmed the security guard to unlock the balcony access, at that point we only had a couple of minutes before we had to shoot off. Without hesitation, I raced down the stairs and then stealthfully secreted myself between the diners within the restaurant and ‘SNAP’ .. my vision of this amazing image was captured. Creatively satisfied we were on our way to Chiswick House and Gardens,  Mariam and Josh’s wedding venue.

Without exaggeration Chiswick House and Gardens is one of those places where you can literally lose yourself and forget you are still in central London. The place is truly stunning.

Mariam and Josh planned for a very laid-back informal wedding surrounded by their closest family and friends and that’s exactly what they’ve received and even more. They picked one of the nicest summer days which meant they were able to spend most of the time in the picturesque gardens surrounding the main house.

What made this wedding so special was that Mariam and Josh replaced the usual first dance and party for a super chilled al-fresco garden evening enjoying subtle tones of a string quartet, drinking fine cocktails, roasting marshmallows, and enjoying chatting to their friends and family. It was such a perfect day.

When it comes to planning your wedding I always advise you not to follow anybody else. Make your date exactly as you will enjoy it the best. If you are party animals and love to boogie and all that madness on the dance floor, choose your favorite band or a DJ and start your party as early as possible. If this is not YOU, I think you may consider taking a leaf from Mariam and Josh’s book and swap a loud crazy party for a nice, relaxing evening where you will get to enjoy all your guests with a little bit of background music without any distraction.

It’s your day and only you can make it YOURS !!

Mariam and Josh – OUR STORY:

        1) Tell us how you first met? Who what when where why?

Josh and I first met at university, in the Maths library to be precise. We were both doing long days revising for exams and saw each other but never spoke until Josh opened a door for me and a friend to walk through. That became the infamous ‘door moment’ and the rest is history!

        2) When did you know he/she was the one?

I think that from our first date it was pretty clear that we were both very interested in one another, we had a lot in common and just chatted freely. We got married 8 years to the anniversary of that date!

        3) Tell us about the proposal.

The proposal was incredible. Josh and  Roxie (maid of honor) colluded together to plan it. Roxie invited me over to her birthday weekend where the plan was to stay over and have a posh brunch. I packed accordingly and was going to take my case to work on Friday morning when Josh said that he would meet me for lunch and bring it with him then. At lunchtime, he picked me up from my office and he told me we weren’t just going for lunch, but to the airport (he had arranged for me to take the afternoon off with my boss without me knowing and Roxie’s sleepover was just a rouse). He handed me a boarding pass for Naples but told me that it was just the first leg of the journey. I had absolutely no idea where the end destination would be.

We got to Naples and were met by a driver and an assistant who hurried us into a Mercedes and to the port, from there we took a private boat to the island of Capri just as the sun was setting over the bay of Naples.

The next morning Josh took me to a beautiful villa – the Villa San Michele and I was a little confused about why we jumped the queue and were let in early. Josh led me out to the beautiful gardens overseeing the Grand Marina and got down on one knee.

As if that wasn’t incredible enough, the next moment a photographer named Umberto jumped out of a bush where he had been hiding. He had managed to photograph the proposal and had been following us since the hotel!

Josh absolutely had thought of everything: there were 2 things I had asked for when he was going to propose: make sure my nails are done and that there is someone there to capture it on camera! He had checked off both of those and then some!

        4) Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.

Oooh so I love how kind and generous Josh is, he has a good heart and will go over and above for me.

Josh says: I think my favourite thing about Mariam is how she encourages me to be a better person, and how honest I can be around her.

        5) If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does.

Mariam is really superstitious – she refuses to walk over 3 drains and salutes magpies! Josh doesn’t like the back of his knees being touched!

        6) What inspired your décor or theme?

We love Italy and wanted a relaxed, Tuscan feel to the wedding. Neither of us is big partiers or drinkers so we wanted a day that suited us, more of a garden party than a disco.

        7) What was the best part of your wedding?

Aside from marrying my best friend? I really enjoyed hearing my friend Chrissy singing opera for the first time and the dancing from her daughter was a bonus!

        8) What’s one thing you wish you would have known earlier in regards to planning?

I wish we knew that it would be dry before! Having an outdoor wedding means lots of uncertainty and fretting over the weather forecast!

        9) Could you give 1 or 2 most important pieces of advice for all the couples who are planning their wedding?

Set a budget and check it is realistic by discussing each element with the venue, there’s nothing worse than unexpected surprises late down the line! Some suppliers quote ex.VAT as well so it’s always good to clear that up early on!

Also, use your suppliers’ knowledge, ask them for advice and suggestions – they are normally happy to help and have so much experience as they have seen countless weddings!

Try not to stress – remember why you are doing this and that the details matter more to you than anyone else.

10/ What was the most important factor in choosing your wedding photographer and why have you chosen Latzo?

We knew we had to have Latzo shoot our wedding from the moment we saw the engagement shoot he did for our friends Laura and Nick. We were prepared and ambushed him at their wedding and have no regrets. Our wedding photos are divine and we get so many compliments on the talent of the photographer! Aside from that Latzo is such a great guy, he was amazing on the day – full of enthusiasm, advice and bubbling with creativity. I would not hesitate to recommend Latzo to anyone getting married or for any other event!

          Shustoke Barn Wedding Photography Heaven

          Shustoke Barn Wedding photography

The best of  Shustoke Barn wedding photography.

Do you want to see my favourite photos?

I absolutely love creating some creative wedding photography at Shustoke Barn Weddings! This rustic barn is a perfect blend of rustic and modern wedding venues. If you are planning to get married in Midlands, Shustoke Barn sits conveniently in the middle of the Warwickshire countryside in close vicinity to Birmingham, Coleshill, and Coventry.

18th-century Shustoke “red-brick” barn was purposely refurbished into a very impressive wedding venue by Cripps & Co.  The main red brick Barn, where the wedding ceremony and wedding reception take place is without any doubt a big show-stopper. For me, as a wedding photographer, Shustoke Barn was definitely “love at first sight”. The photographic possibilities to capture the beauty of this place are endless. My favourite part of Shustoke Barn is the main barn made of red brick with a very unique timber roof and oak structural arches which will simply make you say vow! All of this would be lost in the darkness without a massive oak “state of the art” window which creates a simply perfect spotlight for the bride and groom during the wedding ceremony. It almost feels like the wedding couple is lit by a floodlight retaining a very subtle intimacy within the rest of the barn. As a wedding photographer, I’m a bit of a sucker for beautiful architecture and symmetry. When I entered the main barn at Shustoke for the first time, my creative mind was instantly blown away. If you have seen some of my wedding photos in my portfolio you’d definitely notice my passion for capturing all those interesting architectures within the wedding venues.

My favourite first look between the bride and groom at Shustoke Barn

          Shustoke Barn Wedding photographer

Shustoke Barn would look absolutely stunning especially if you decide to finish the decorations in rustic colours with loads of greens.

Ancient Olive tree courtyard photography at Shustoke Barn

The beauty of this wedding venue doesn’t stop at the main Shustoke Barn. I was equally impressed with its ancient olive tree courtyard. What a perfect spot for the wedding party to get to mingle and enjoy the drinks and canapes. Whether I’m photographing those candid documentary special moments amongst the wedding guests or the bride and groom’s portrait photos, there is always plenty of choice for interesting photography backgrounds. The choices are really endless. Majestic oak frame barn doors, red brick barn wall, rustic forge with a Giant BBQ all of this surrounded by a very picturesque mini orchard of mature olive trees.

Bride and groom hugging in the olive trees courtyard

The Shustoke Olive tree courtyard is magical to photograph even in all sort of weather conditions … who cares about a bit of rain, right 🙂 ♡

First kiss in the rain on the wedding day

A hidden Photography gem at Shustoke Barn

Whilst photographing wedding venues such as Shustoke Barn with many picturesque spots, I often give my favourite photo places unique names for future reference – this one I named “The magic circular window”

By now, we’ve established that the Shustoke main barn is a pretty amazing place to photograph, however, there is also a smaller pitch roofed barn. Right by the entrance to the venue, on the ground floor, there is a rustic bar that caters to all the thirsty wedding guests. But on the top floor, I’ve discovered something really unexpected..- the photographer’s secret. The full barn length room creates an intimate atmosphere for all those brides and grooms seeking a bit of privacy. When the weather is not kind, it is often used for the drink reception as there is plenty of room to mingle.

I, however, like to use it to create some intimate striking wedding photography. As I said I love the symmetry in my wedding images and to have a beautiful pitched oak beam roof with a small circular window in the middle of the wall beneath triggers all of my photography endorphins. Even if it’s raining the bride and groom can still come up here and enjoy the views over the fields surrounding the Shustoke Barn estate. The best place from the wedding photography point of view is right in front of the window keeping in mind the symmetry in the final image.bride and groom at Shustoke typical round window portrait in the barn

Shustoke Barn Car Park comes to life after the sunset, a striking photo opportunity!

The front of Shustoke Barn is one of the other reasons why the brides and grooms instantly fall in love with this place. A long straight road leading towards the Barn gives us photographers (and videographers too) plenty of opportunities to capture the arrival of the wedding car with the bride. Generous parking is conveniently positioned right in front of the main wedding venue entrance. This makes it super easy for all the wedding guests to find their way to the main ceremony room.

And this is not all !!

          Wedding photography at Shustoke Barn

Shustoke carpark lit by the festoon lights

Every wedding photographer knows that after sunset this car park comes to life! The Shustoke Barn team hasn’t failed to make a great first impression for all those wedding guests invited for the evening reception. The whole front yard of the wedding venue is literally covered with hundreds of festoon lights giving a very gentle glow to the front of the Barn. If I can, I love to take my couples away from their guest for a little bit of a break in the evening, and some extra photos too. Here, right under the festoon lights is just the perfect spot for some precious “newly wedded couple” moments away from all the wedding buzz. The bride and groom can enjoy a bit of silence absorbing all those special moments from their big day. In the meantime, my role as a wedding photographer is to take advantage of the situation and work hard to grab some creative portraits to capture all the loveliness.

The wedding car in front of the main Barn

Evening reception at Shustoke Barn and “State of the art Funktion-One” sound system

To Photograph Shustoke Barn at night is even more impressive. Perfectly balanced lighting which highlights the Barns main features looks amazing. In the evening it’s all about the party! The state of the art sound system accompanied with some vibrant lighting won’t let the wedding guests sit in their seats for too long. This is one of my favourite parts of the wedding day. To enhance the beauty of the Shustoke Barn I normally set up several flashes around the dance floor, just to give my photographs that extra edge and definition.

It’s not unusual for the future brides and grooms to book my wedding photography services based purely on seeing some of my 1st dance and party action shots. As soon as the evening party starts, I am not a wedding photographer anymore. I am a strong believer that if I almost become of the guests and genuinely celebrate with the rest of the wedding party, I can capture all those natural documentary moments in the most organic way. In the capable hands of the wedding band or  DJ, the top quality “Funktion-One” sound system certainly makes a difference in the overall experience.

Since 2017, I’m a very proud member of ISPWP – International society of professional wedding photographers. This is one of the most prestigious societies recruiting the best photographers in the world.

I was literally overwhelmed when my wedding photography has been acknowledged and one of my images captured at Shustoke Barn won an award.

Now, I’d like to give you a bit of the story behind this winning wedding photography image.

The bride in this picture very sadly lost both of her parents. Ever since she told me this sad story and that she will be walking down the aisle at Shustoke Barn on her own, I knew I have to capture the significance of this moment in the most amazing way. Normally I’d capture the bride walking down the aisle exposing the face, but this time I’ve decided to create a majestic silhouette using all the beautiful shapes of the barn to make the right framing capturing the bride walking the aisle on her own. I think this image captures well a moment of pride, love, braveness but also sorrow at the same time. There’s no doubt that Shustoke Barn architecture added a brand new dimension to this special moment.

Latzo Phtography – The Best of 2020

The Best of LATZO Photography in 2020 !!

This won’t be by any means my normal “THE BEST OF” post, but hey..

let’s be honest, nothing about 2020 was really normal.

I should have had wedding photography images gathered from at least 38 weddings, but unfortunately in 2020, I shot only 3 full and one micro wedding in the whole year!!

It’s been an extraordinary year for all of us and there’s no doubt that most people all over the world have been affected in some way by the global pandemic.  At one point during the first lockdown, I came to the realization that most of the things which were causing me enormous stress and anxiety are out of my control. I had to officially step back from the news and social media and focus on what was most important at the time – the wellbeing of my Family. We locked ourselves in our home and tried to ignore all the news for the sake of our sanity really.

On one side, this year was disastrous in so many ways, and I feel for all the people who were badly affected by the virus. On the other side, it gave us a chance to slow down a bit to make us realize that nothing is permanent and we shouldn’t take anything in our lives for granted.

To be a wedding photographer is arguably one of the most amazing jobs ever. To provide couples with precious everlasting memories from one of the biggest days in their lives is certainly one of the most rewarding feelings.  Unfortunately, there are a few drawbacks too ss most couples planning to get married during the summer months, I barely get to spend much time with my daughters between May-September. Working 12+ hours every day there is just not enough time in our days during the main season.

2020 was a constant rollercoaster of emotions, we had many good days, but there were bad days too. The most important was to keep our living as normal as possible..mainly for our girls. One of the biggest challenges was certainly the homeschooling, after the few most stressful weeks I’ve admitted I’m not a very capable teacher and decided to take a more laid back approach aka went into a survival mode. So there were loads of long breaks and craziness in between the lessons. The kids were happy and I was getting my sanity back.

We have been super lucky that my mum came from Slovakia to see us, originally for two weeks, in March but became almost 3 months as she couldn’t get back home due to boarders closures. What a great opportunity for us, but mainly our girls to have almost 3 months of undivided attention from their dearest “Starka”(grandma’)

We celebrated Our 10th Wedding anniversary by renewing our wedding vows in our garden wedding.

We celebrated all the birthday’s, apart from mine, in lockdown.

We conquered our first Peak in the Peak District – not the most successful trip 🙂

We even managed to get away for a last-minute holiday abroad during those few weeks when we were allowed to travel.

As all of my work had been canceled I decide to take advantage of having all the free time and off we went to see our Slovakian relatives. for the very first time ever in the middle of the summer season !!)

It was an immense relief when kids went back to school in September, the first signs of the return of normality. We all thought we can see the end of the tunnel at that point, and here we are again..the national lockdown no.3.  Let’s hope it’s the last one and things will only get better from this point.!!

I hope you are all well and safe, here’s my

            Micro Wedding – Intimate Photography

Chelsea Town Hall wedding during Covid - 19 Bride and Groom with Face masks MICRO WEDDING IN LONDON

            CHELSEA TOWN HALL

Are you planning your micro wedding during uncertain pandemic times

A Micro Wedding in London wasn’t the way I imagined to finish my Photography season in 2020. No doubt that 2020 was one of the most challenging years for every bride and groom trying to plan their wedding day. It’s equally frustrating for us wedding photographers. We will all remember 2020 as the year when, not only all the weddings, but the whole world came to a standstill.

How couples started to plan their micro wedding

Planning your wedding day is supposed to be at least as exciting as the wedding day itself. I don’t think a single bride or groom imagine the wedding photos with the face mask on, social distancing on all those important family group photographs. When the pandemic started to affect our lives in March, nobody would think it would last longer than a few months. When we went into the first lockdown, many spring weddings were postponed to summer or autumn 2020. As we started to approach towards the summer with numbers of case constantly raising it became apparent weddings as we knew them would not be able to go ahead. Some couples decided to still go ahead and accept all the rules from the government.  That’s where the new term of  “micro wedding” started to be popular amongst all the wedding couples who wanted to get married regardless of the situation.

            Wedding photography postponements

For many other couples, the of thought of having a maximum of 30 guests at their micro wedding ( which changed into 15 later on), social distancing, wearing face masks and no evening party at their wedding day was enough reason to postpone their wedding until …. now that was the million-dollar question. Once again couples hoped that things would be back to normal by end of the year and postponed to November or December! Other couples decided to play safe and go for the 2021 summer months. There were also more sceptical couples who just bit the bullet and rebooked their wedding for 2022.

It was so upsetting to know the difficulties my couples were experiencing, some of them cancelling their weddings completely due to a change in circumstances or illness 🙁

            Steph and Brad’s micro wedding

Steph and Brad had planned to have a large wedding with all their family and friends. Their wedding was booked originally for September but under the pressure of the ever-changing rules, they decided to postpone… several times!!

They then had to re-assessed the whole situation and finally realised what really mattered the most to them was to get married..with or without all the glam and all the perks of the originally planned wedding.

In a matter of a few weeks, they managed to plan their last-minute wedding at Chelsea Town Hall in London. Instead of having all their family and friends, they invited only their children with their partners. Nobody else knew about their wedding until afterwards. I’m sure their closest family and friends respected their decision and send their belated blessings.

My photography experience with this micro wedding

I have to admit I was slightly apprehensive as to how to approach my first covid wedding. With all the regulations and rules in place, I literally walked into Steph and Brad’s big day without any expectations ready to capture their day as it unveils.  Although both the groom and the bride were getting ready at the same apartment at Chelsea Harbor Hotel.  After Brad got ready I suggested doing a “first look” and asked Brad to wait for Steph at the harbour where he would get to see his bride in her wedding dress for the first time.  This was again a really nice moment to capture and originally I was only supposed to be taking pictures only during the ceremony and a few family pictures afterwards. To make their wedding more special I suggested to take the couple out for a short walk to the Bridge to get some fresh air and absorb the beautiful illumination of Alberts bridge. To see the bride and groom walking down the street it was really something, where most of the people trying to stock up just before the next lockdown with doom and gloom in the air it was rather refreshing to see the happy couple walking down the streets of London with their huge smiles and wedding attire.  The reaction was priceless with many cars slowing down and shouting their congratulations which made Steph and Brad’s day really special. I really think they have brought a bit of hope and spark of normality to all the passersby who cheer for them as they walked by.

Stephanie and Bradley – Our Micro Wedding

Tell us about your original wedding plans?

We were originally having a fairly traditional style big wedding with all of our family and friends in attendance.

Why and When have you decided to bring your wedding forward?

After a very stressful 6 months of uncertainty, compromise and ultimately a reluctant decision to postpone until 2021 the government announced even more restrictions which looked set to last until well into 2021.  We had already changed our plans several times during lockdown and we both decided that it wasn’t worth another year of our lives being dominated by wedding uncertainty when all we really wanted to do was get married to each other.

To plan the wedding during the global pandemic, what was the biggest challenge?

The biggest challenge was being at the mercy of the government and knowing that they could introduce restrictions at any time that could put a stop to our new plans.  It was also a challenge planning and pulling together a micro wedding in less than a month.

Why have you chosen to get married at Chelsea Town Hall?

Weirdly, a small wedding at Chelsea Town Hall was actually our original plan (before I got carried away with the big fancy wedding).  We liked the idea of getting married there as Brad was born in Chelsea and we both love a stroll along the King’s Road on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

What was the best part of your intimate wedding?

The best part was achieving our goal of getting married in 2020 in spite of all the challenges and compromises that we had to make to get there.  Even though it wasn’t what we had originally planned we had a perfect day spent with 4 of our 5 children (our eldest is currently in Zurich with our two grandchildren).  It was really relaxed day filled with lots of laughter.

You’ve had to follow all the Covid-19 security measure on your wedding day. Has it affected the way you felt on your wedding day in any way?

Surprisingly it didn’t.  One of the reasons we decided to put plans on hold with our original venue was because I was dead set against everyone having to wear masks but as it turned out it didn’t ruin our day in any way.  We were both so happy to be finally getting married that we didn’t let any of the Covid measures dampen our spirits.

Could you give 1 or 2 most important pieces of advice for all the couples who are planning their wedding right now or are dealing with their wedding postponements

Number 1…..focus on what is important to you and your fiancé and don’t worry about everyone else.  These are unusual times that we’re living in and your friends and family will love you and support your decisions whatever they may be.  Number 2……don’t stress, it’s not worth it! As long as you get married to the man or woman that you love none of the other stuff matters!

What was the most important factor in choosing your wedding photographer and why have you chosen Latzo?

The deciding factor was feeling like we could be relaxed around our photographer and after my initial meeting with Latzo I knew straight away that he was the one for us.  We really can’t recommend Latzo highly enough….he is professional, enthusiastic, really friendly and extremely talented at what he does!  Best of all you forgot he was even there most of the time (which is brilliant for two people that hate having their picture taken!)

Anything else you’d like to add?

We’re looking forward to when life returns to normal and we can celebrate with the rest of our family and friends (Latzo…..you’ll be on the invite list for this one too!)

Best of Bassmead Manor Barn wedding photography

              Bassmead Manor Barns wedding photography

Rob and Laura’s wedding photos at Bassmead Manor Barn, a beautiful barn wedding venue in Cambridgeshire.

              epic first dance at bassmead

Who wouldn’t like to get married at Bassmead Manor Barn; a charming barn wedding venue set among acres of beautiful Cambridgeshire countryside

It’s always a great pleasure to come back to do wedding photography at Bassmead Manor Barn. This rural wedding venue consists of several buildings with The Moat Barn being the oldest with a 300 years old history! The newer part of the venue The Bridge Barn is equally beautiful with its oak beam structure and big glass windows all around letting plenty of natural light in.

The perfect balance between the old and modern surrounded by beautiful gardens right next to the river was probably one of the reasons Laura and Rob picked the Bassmead Manor Barns to be the ONE!

Creative wedding photography at Bassmead Manor Barns

I have photographed many weddings at Bassmead Manor Barns many and I really wanted to create something that I haven’t done before. The best time to create some “magical” – edgy portraits is between the wedding breakfast and the first dance. When the sun is coming down, that’s just the perfect time for those epic photos.

This will also give a newly wedded couple some extra time on their own just before the “party” evening stars. Even though it was raining most of the day I kept assuring Laura and Rob that I’d ordered a glorious sunset after all that darkness, of course, they didn’t believe me and just laughed. Just after the speeches to everybody surprise (even mine) the rain suddenly stopped and the sky opened up like someone just waved a magic wand. We had to act very quickly as we didn’t know how long it was going last, so before Laura and Rob realized they were standing in the middle of the fields all by themselves enjoying a bit of privacy, absorbing all the emotions with a beautiful after sunset dramatic sky. I was, of course, working on finding that perfect spot to capture the beauty of the moment in the most creative way.

During the portrait walk, I urge my couples to completely forget about me and focus on the moment, take it as a time out where they can take a deep breath and realise how precious that moment really is. I don’t want my couples to perform in front of the camera. Instead, I want them to be themselves and show who they really are and how they feel. Then they can just leave the rest up to me..it’s simple as that!! And that’s exactly what Laura and Rob did.

They had loads of fun and laughter but also a few quiet moments where they just enjoyed their cuddle listening to each other’s breath, embracing that very special moment to be freshly married. Together we managed to create some striking natural portraits, no awkward posing, no bossy instructions .. just pure love and loveliness!

The most amazing Pizza, chilling out in the courtyard and the crazy wedding party at Bassmead Manor Barns

Once we’re returned from our sunset walk, the bride and groom were greeted by all the wedding guests chilling in the courtyard full of roses. The authentic wood-fired pizza at Bassmead Manor Barn is definitely one of the hotspots during the wedding evening. The pizzas those guys producing is simply delicious. It’s so nice to photograph all wedding guests mingling around, enjoying their drinks and wonderful pizzas. There is just something special about those magical evenings at Bassmead Barns. After this awesome refreshment, the guest and wedding party are just perfectly ready for the party. I love to capture a few wide-angle wedding photos of the dance floor inside the main Bassmead Barn. The oak roof structure with the fairy lights looks amazing in the pictures.

Why did Laura and Rob choose Latzo to be their wedding photographer at Bassmead Manor Barns

“For us choosing our wedding photographer was easy. We had seen Latzo in action at a number of weddings in Northamptonshire and fell in love with his natural, documentary style of photography and his friendly nature. It is clear to us that he absolutely loves what he does and this shows in his truly amazing wedding photos. There really was no other choice for us! ”

The wedding was loosely themed around the proposal as well as Laura’s favourite colour, purple. All of our tables were named after places on the Amalfi Coast and when we found out we could have homemade pizza in the evening, there really was no other choice.

The best part of the wedding

Rob: Of course seeing Laura walking down the aisle towards me but in typical Laura fashion she did keep me waiting for 10 minutes. However, another highlight was seeing our photographer run over the bridge and slip over on the wet grass, it really made us chuckle (sorry Latzo I had to mention it, hats off to you though you got back up had a little look around to make sure nobody else had seen and carried on snapping away)

Latzo: You do realize I only did it to make you laugh 🙂 .. I’ll do anything to get a good shot 🙂

Laura: There are so many amazing moments it’s difficult to pick one. Seeing Rob’s face for the first time has to be the one that stands out most. I was so nervous before walking down the aisle but as soon as I saw his big smile, all my worries disappeared.

Dramatic artistic portrait of bride and groom in the field at Bassmead Manor Barns

The story of Laura and Rob and why did they choose to get married at Bassmead Manor Barn

              When we first met?

We met at work 6 years ago and started as friends. Then one Christmas party there was an ongoing joke that we were the only single people on the team and we should be each other’s +1. From there, things just clicked and the rest is history.

              Tell us about your Proposal

Rob – it was in the pipeline for about 6 months. We had booked to go on holiday to Italy and I decided to hire a boat and drive us around the Capri coastline…..little did Laura know I had never driven a boat before and safe to say it was a little bit rocky, at one point Laura was nearly thrown over from me hitting the waves so hard. I wasn’t very nervous about the proposal itself, I was more nervous about Laura being nosey and finding the ring in my rucksack. I decided to stop the boat and drop the anchor in the sea somewhere quiet…..that way if Laura said no then nobody would see me throw her overboard.

Laura – I had no idea the proposal was on the way. We had been to quite a few weddings and Rob had thrown me off the scent by making comments that it would be us in a few years’ time. The day of the proposal was my birthday and Rob had surprised me with some really lovely presents and a beautiful scrapbook that he had made himself containing photographs and memories of things we had done together. We then hopped on a ferry over to Capri before boarding a speed boat Rob had hired. It was supposed to be romantic but we were hitting the waves so hard I thought I was going to lose some teeth. I was so happy when he made the suggestion to stop in a quiet little cove. After we had settled, Rob told me that he had one final present for me and to close my eyes. This was the first time I wondered whether this could be it. When I opened them, Rob was down on one knee with a ring in his hand. It was a total surprise and so overwhelming.

              Something silly or quirky

Rob: Laura will always find something she loves to buy when shopping especially for clothes. She then talks herself out of it by repeating whether she actually needs it or not before it ultimately falls into the basket.

Laura: Rob finds a song he loves and plays it continuously for around a week. This leads to him over killing it completely and then neither of us wanting to listen to it again.

One thing we wish we would have known earlier with regards to planning our wedding at Bassmead Manor Barns

Overestimating how long it would take to organise the smaller more personalized details. The big things are easy, the smaller bits take time and effort to get them just right.

A piece of advice for other couples planning to get married at Bassmead Barns

Laura – Enjoy the planning, it’s so easy to get caught up in everything and get stressed over the smallest things. Start early by booking your vendors and then make sure you put time aside to plan things together. Planning should be fun!

Rob – Everybody will tell you just how quickly the day goes……..believe them, before you know it your evening guests are arriving so make sure you make a little bit of time to spend alone as bride and groom.

We’ve been super blessed with a Mediterranean quality of light that hit Corby countryside just before the sunset.

I was so excited to shoot the “love” again after a very long 6 months in lockdown. I had never met Daniella and Alex as they booked me for their wedding at Horthorpe Hall during the lockdown period.  Arranging a pre-wedding shoot was such a great way to get to know them in person. Daniella and Alex decided to have their pre-wedding engagement shoot in their local fields in Cottingham just outside Corby.  As soon as we arrived I spotted “the perfect spot” which was on top of a hill with the most beautiful “Mediterranean like” light. Golden hour is well known amongst photographers as the last hour before the sun sets, the light gets very warm-almost orange-like.

There was only one obstacle to overcome. The fields were full of young and extremely curious cows 🙂 Needless to say, our perfect photoshoot turned into a bit of a challenge. I was trying to maneuver the cows to my advantage to get some creative shots but dealing with a bunch of cheeky cows that did complete opposite from what  I wanted them to do was very humorous. Quite literally “they were breathing on our necks” :)).

My ultimate goal during any of my pre-wedding photoshoots is to make the couple 100 % comfortable in my presents to the point they almost forget I’m even there. And that’s exactly how the magic happens and I get to capture those lovely natural-looking pictures. So when we all had relaxed a bit about being surrounded by loads of loose animals, Daniella and Alex focused on the moment, which,  with Alex’s playful nature wasn’t too difficult.

Just after the sunset, it was the perfect time to do something edgier and dramatic using my off-camera studio flash. By this time the cows calmed down a bit and got used to us intruding their field. I managed to come up with a few spontaneous ideas on how to include them in our pictures without moving them around. I always like to challenge my self to do something different just to give my couples something unique and created on the spot just for them.

All in all, we definitely made the most of the location and the most beautiful autumn evening. This is exactly what I needed, to refresh my memory and recall how special and amazing it feels to photograph people in love.

I can’t wait to shoot Daniella and Alex’s wedding at Hothorpe Hall in March 2021. I know it will be one fantastic day!!! They are genuinely one of the most awesome couples I’ve had the pleasure to work with.

Same sex wedding at Barton Hall

                  Barton Hall wedding

                  Same-sex wedding photography in Northamptonshire

Lucy and Cheryl’s amazing wedding at Barton Hall in Kettering

I was looking forward to this same sex wedding even before these girls got engaged. My wife and I are very proud god-parents to Lucy and Cheryl’s adorable girls so we know them all very well. The proposal was a big surprise as Lucy dropped down on her knee in front of all their nearest and dearest during their daughter’s Christening reception. It was such an emotional experience.

When they asked me to be their photographer I simply couldn’t say no and literally started to count the days until the big day.

Originally they were looking for a quirky barn countryside type of wedding venue as they are both very relaxed and didn’t want a traditional wedding with loads of formalities. The problem was that no barn comes with a facility to accommodate a large number of the guest which was very important. I recommended Barton Hall as it ticked all the boxes apart from not being a barn. Their only worry was that Barton Hall has that “Hall” tag attached to it which is indicating a certain level of formality. I have explained that the style of the wedding is not necessarily determined by the type of wedding venue and only they can decide how laid back and relaxed their wedding was going to be. I advised first of all not to stress about all the things which don’t matter too much and invite all the right people who will be there genuinely to celebrate their marriage. Having met some of Lucy and Cheryl’s friends I knew that even if they tried really hard to make their wedding formal, the reception would be one big lively celebration and to no surprise, I was right 🙂 Their day was super laid back, full of love and laughter with the most hilarious but in the same time emotional speeches ever and loads of family loveliness topped off with a super crazy antics on the dance floor all night long! I have to admit I have seen loads of crazy stuff in my time but their four-tier human pyramid and Cheryl doing the worm will stay on the top of my list of craziness for a long time :).

The Story of Lucy and Cheryl

Why have you chosen Barton Hall to be your wedding venue?

We loved the idea of everyone being together in one place and Barton Hall was perfect for that.

Tell us how you first met? Who what when where why?

                  We met at work

When did you know he/she was the one?

She won me over with her wit.

Tell us about the proposal. (Did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning?, how did you feel? nervous, excited, freaking out?)

After 12 years and 2 children, it was about time. It was in front of about 60 people so I had no choice but to say yesJ

Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.

I love the fact that she can always make me laugh J

What inspired your décor or theme?

We both wanted a simple, clean look  – for once we were both on the same page J

What was the best part of your wedding?

The band and the fact that the dance floor was never empty.

                  The speeches were insane.

What’s one thing you wish you would have known earlier in regards to planning?

Ordering dresses – you need at least 6 months to get the dress fitted and sorted. We thought we could just walk into a shop and order one – we were sooooooo wrong!!

Could you give 1 or 2 most important pieces of advice for all the couples who are planning their wedding?

Don’t get carried away with the little bits –we spent days designing and working on a seating plan. Honestly, nobody is bothered!!

What was the most important factor in choosing your wedding photographer and why have you chosen Latzo?

We love Latzo and the energy that he brings to your wedding. He is also amazingly discreet so you do not even know he is there.
